On the last day of the world, love breaks, chaos rises, and two women fight for tenderness in the shadow of the end — where the darkest place becomes their last refuge.
Synopsis:
On their last day alive, Ema and Ida dance in the living room. Ida sings to Ema, and together they embody tenderness. A ringing alarm snaps them back — they’re late for a book launch illustrated by Ida. The author, Ada, christens the book with fresh breast milk. At the event, they meet Ema’s ex, Oto, who invites them to his evening happening. One thing leads to another, and the afternoon celebrating motherhood ends in a fight — Ida wants a child, Ema doesn’t. Their conflict mirrors the outside world: the café loses power, networks go down, strange winds rise, and heavy, discolored clouds gather. Ema and Ida separate, unaware they have only hours left. Ida joins a stranger’s bachelorette party; Ema goes to Oto’s event. Their anger fades, absorbed into a toxic polar glow above the city. People lose taste and smell; noses bleed. At dawn, Ema and Ida reunite. Birds lie dead, dust falls from the sky. A quiet kiss marks fragile reconciliation, broken by urgent phone notifications. Ema reaches for her phone, but with tears, Ida holds her back. Sirens rise from the city below. The silence of dawn gives way to chaos. To calm Ema, Ida sings — softly, calmly, for the last time.
IN ASTRONOMY, THE UMBRA IS THE DARKEST PART OF A SHADOW.
