The preparation phase for the 19th edition of FEST – New Directors, New Films Festival continues apace and we have started announcing the films chosen to be part of the 2023 programming.

We start once again with the National Grand Prix, fulfilling the goal of promoting and sustainably developing Portuguese cinema, empowering and promoting new filmmakers, and creating new audiences. 

This year with more films and age groups, making the viewing sessions of the selected films a diversified and enriching experience for all spectators. There will be 4 sessions and a total of 23 films! Among the selected films are:

Portugal has increasingly stood out in the international film scene, with directors such as Salomé Lamas, Basil da Cunha, Pedro Augusto Almeida, Diogo Costa Amarante, Jorge Quintela, Rita Quelhas, Ico Costa, Pedro Lino, Mariana Gaivão, Bruno Carnide, Ricardo Leite and Bernardo Lopes, who have already been part of FEST. 

Last year, the winner of the National Grand Prix was "Mansa", by Mariana Bártolo, and the honorable mentions went to "A Girl from Saturn", by Gonçalo Almeida, and "Da Sala ao Cinema à Rua", by Leonardo Miranda.

From June 19th to 26th all these new talents of national cinema will be in Espinho. Join them!
